Pali & Planets

With some googling, I found a complete list of the Pali numbers in Thai.
The first three are very common in ranks, such as in the military, education degrees, and language tones.

The and the rest are also common parts of Pali loanwords in Thai, according to the discussion linked above. Many look familiar to me.

1 =
เอก
2 = โท , ทว
3 =
ตรี , ไตร
4 =
จัตตุ , จตุ , จัตุ
5 =
เบญจ
6 =
ฉอ , ฉ-
7 =
สัตต , สัต
8 =
อัฏฐ
9 =
นพ
10 =
ทศ

The search for these numbers was sparked by the word นพเคราะห์ or "the nine planets". Since ดาวพลูโต (Pluto) was demoted in 2006, this name is out of date. I was just curious what "the eight planets" would look like... and the answer is: อัฏฐเคราะห์. A Google search returns 627 results for this word. (And 498 for the variant spelling อัฐเคราะห์)

This topic came up on the message board of the Thai Astronomical Society.

"นพเคราะห์"ลบ"พลูโต" เรียกว่าอะไร??

"The nine planets" minus Pluto. What do you call that?

หุหุ สงสัยครับ ว่า ถ้าดาวเคราะห์ ที่เมื่อก่อนมี9ดวง เลยเรียกดาว นพเคราะห์นั้น
เมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็น 8 ดวงแล้ว จะเรียกอะไร

เอ่อ หมายความว่า ใครเป็นคนเปลี่ยนคำเรียกนี้ กระทรวงศึกษา สมาคมดาราศาสตร์ กระทรวงวิทย์ หรือนายก???
Haha, I wonder. The planets were previously 9, so they were called นพเคราะห์ (the nine planets) Since they changed to eight planets, what will they be called?

Eh, I mean, who is the person changing the name? Ministry of Education? The Astronomical Society? The Ministry of [?] ???

The rest of the conversation is very interesting, but my curiosity is satisfied for today.
